Vintage Design
A highly unusual 19th Century Egyptian Revival Mantel Clock. Wonderful design architectural clock case with pagoda top, made of high quality red marble and black slate, all exquisitely decorated with bronze mouldings and hieroglyphics depicting Egyptian birds and the God “Ra” – an ancient Egyptian dity of the Sun.
Highly unusual piece that would be nearly impossible to find again. Probably made and design as a one off gift rather than being mass produced.
The clock is bearing a plaque: “Presented by The Scholars of Stirling High School To Duncan Macdougal Esq Master of Mathematical Department 24th March 1882”
