Little known but avant-garde Dutch designer, he left his mark on design with his highly innovative storage solutions. He designed coat racks, shelves, bookcases, etc. produced by the company Pilastro in the 1950s. His pieces are skilfully constructed in metal with a minimalist and industrial, but also colourful, spirit. Among his best known designs is the Toonladder collection of coat racks. Biography Tjerk Reijenga began his career as a designer at Pilastro in the 1950s and 1960s, where he worked with Dutch design greats such as Friso Kramer, Coen de Vries and D. van Sliedregt. Today he has become a world-renowned architect, specialising in sustainable development and solar panels. He is an active member of the BNA (Dutch Association of Architects) and ISES (International Solar Energy Society). His architectural practice is called BEAR-iD and has offices in the Netherlands and China. He moved to Shanghai in 2008. His philosophy is to use exclusively renewable materials in all his buildings.
