1940s Royal Doulton Bone China, “Bell Heather” Hand Painted Dinner Plates- Set of 5

For your consideration…. We have come across a truly gorgeous set of Royal Doulton hand painted china in the “Bell Heather” pattern dating to the 1940’s. In perfect condition, it is quite lovely and perfect for Springtime and Summer gatherings with its cheerful rendering of Bell Heather, a symbol of hospitality, in shades of pink, green, turquoise and lavender, on the purest white bone china! It also features a torse shaped (fluted) border and rich gilt trimmings. All pieces are in absolutely mint condition, a set that has been lovingly cared for. Most pieces are clearly signed by the artist, “P. Curnock.”

Percy Curnock worked for Doulton for almost 70 years before finally retiring and during that time had witnessed three Royal visits to the Burslem factory. He was, however, known to thousands around the world not just for his hand painted wares that graced famous homes, but also the best selling tableware designs that he created for Doulton, including Passion Flower, Clovelly, Gleneagles, Curnock Rose and of course Glamis Thistle, the last two of which actually carry a fascimilie signature for him – something that had previously not happened at Doulton.
