1979 “Gray Triangle” Abstract Acrylic on Canvas Painting by Walter Stomps

A 1979 acrylic on canvas painting by the American artist Walter Stomps (1929-2020). Titled “Gray Triangle,” the painting depicts a blue and a gray triangle surrounded by bright pink and a light blue background. Dated to the verso, the painting is displayed in a black wooden frame. The painting is unsigned.

Walter Stomps, Jr. was born in Ohio and lived in Kentucky later in life. He completed his education at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1959 and then taught at the Middletown Fine Arts Center, Dayton Arts Institute, and Western Kentucky University.
