This brass and iron mesh fireplace fender is a vintage piece from a New Orleans estate. The serpentine shape features brass ball finials and , our favorite, brass paw feet.
It is attributed to Virginia Metalcrafters, although no makers mark is found.
Each strand of the mesh is woven and attached at the top and bottom showing remarkable craftsmanship.
This is a classic fireplace accessory, perfect for a historic home. The last picture shows the fender paired with our andirons , also available in this shop.

There is a bit of flaking here and there of the black finish and very minimal surface rust in some spots particularly on the backside.
One end does not sit firmly. This does not affect looks or function.
