Vintage Design
Covered pot in patinated bronze in the Louis XVI style, in the taste of Clodion. The main body is covered with a mythological decoration of putti connected to each other by branches of vine and bunches coming out of several horns of plenty, themselves held by a central putto enthroned on top of the lid. The latter, the only one wearing wings, has a serious and concentrated attitude. He stands on top of the triton shell, attribute of Pluto, god of wealth and abundance, while the other naked or lightly draped putti seem to be enjoying themselves. The base of this vase is in black marble and surmounted by a pedestal with acanthus leaves. Date inscribed under the vase: “February 8, 1891” followed by the name of the medieval city, “Mehun s/Hèvre” Second half of the 19th century. Dimensions of the base: 13,5 x 13,5 cm.
