“Ceramics Elchinger” is a family business installed in Soufflenheim in Alsace in 1834. Since that time, generations have followed one another and have offered a production as varied as before-guardist. Léon Elchinger (1871-1942) will mark the spirits by productions of artistic sandstones as well as magnificent Art Nouveau potteries then Art Deco, with magnificent colors and brilliance. Less known than the Chambost, Ruelland, Jouve and Capron, Fernand Elchinger (1911-1975) will be one of the major mid-century ceramists. We are fans of its productions free forms, “handkerchief” vases and especially contrast games between deep blacks and bright yellows, red or green!
