Ceramics was established in the “Kamionka” Ceramic Products Cooperative in Łysa Góra – enjoying great popularity and interest in the times of the Polish People’s Republic. It was famous for high-quality ceramics created by craftsmen and artists.
Łysa Góra is a small village in the Subcarpathian Province. The fame of this town is connected with the activity of the ceramics factory established in the 1940s by a local activist, Franciszek Mleczka. The management of the plant was taken over by the famous Polish ceramic artist Bolesław Książek. A ceramic technical college was established next to the plant.
Ceramics from Łysa Góra has gained great popularity not only in Poland, but also abroad. In the 1950s, artists from Warsaw started to come to the factory. Łysa Góra has become the center of Polish artistic craftsmanship. Pots, pots, plates, tiles and larger ceramic products were produced. The studios experimented with creating new glazes and searching for new technologies.
