This bronze with a brown patina represents a Chinese sage raising his left hand on the back of a Foo dog. His posture shows his skill and the simplicity with which he tames the mythical animal, defender of Buddha’s temple. His lion form makes him the symbol of the protection of the home, happiness and fortune, possibly represented by the small purse held by the sage.
This decorative element of Asian Art consists of two elements that can be separated from each other, allowing small objects to be slipped inside.
