Caroline Harrius (b. 1993 Linköping) is a ceramicist based in Stockholm, with a bachelor degree in medium and material based art from Oslo’s National Academy of the Arts, and a master degree in craft from Konstfack. In her artistic practice, Harrius often works with questions regarding gender hierarchies in craft history, and how these structures are affecting her own work in a contemporary society. Her master project “The Repulsive Flower” (2020), is an investigation of gender norms in ceramic history, questioning what traditions we have chosen to live on. What do we value as great art today, and what do we reject as tasteless knick knack? Can we relate this to historical gender roles in craft? Harrius works from her studio in the old porcelain factory in Gustavsberg, G-studion.
