Late 18th Century Museum Documented American Federal Chest of Drawers

An important American Federal Chest of Drawers c. 1795-1805, likely from Eastern Maryland.

This exact chest was catalogued in the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA) in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Primary wood is Walnut with oval inlay on the drawer fronts. Secondary is yellow pine and the keyholes have lovely teardrop inlay.

This piece was examined for MESDA by Bradford L. Rauchenberg, Frank L. Horton and Jane Webb Smith in 1979.
